I am very interested in Assyrian textiles, but due to genocide, displacement and assimilation many of our symbols are lost or hard to find in the diaspora. For this project, I was interested in playing and designing my own block structures as my own symbols and pattern. This design was rosemary, but also reminiscent of California poppy. This is a summer and winter weave structure, meaning it shows the inverse colors on the backside.
